The client

A flight solutions company was facing a resourcing challenge. They needed to find a way to overcome the limited availability of competent data analysts – particularly in the APAC region, where they wanted to match their Americas staffing. Their initial solution was to run a global virtual resourcing competition, where the winner would not only be hired, but would also make a keynote presentation at their annual industry convention. The idea was excellent, but the company’s brand presence and marketing capability were holding it back. ​

If our client wanted to be in a stronger hiring position and consolidate their industry reputation, some fundamental branding and marketing issues needed addressing.

Our approach

Firstly, smart/tasking mobilised a highly experienced marcomms team to undertake a comprehensive review of our client’s existing brand and marketing materials, in order to understand the ‘lie of the land’ and develop a sensible plan of action. At the same time, the search for a local marketing support manager got underway. In just a few weeks, smart/tasking was able to provide targeted, practical solutions on: ​

  • 'Brilliant Basics’ marketing support: our marketing executive worked alongside their SMT to advise on their production and branding work, provide insight to their ‘voice’ as well as brand development, content and messaging hacks, and create a toolkit to enable subsequent SMART interventions​

  • Magic Touches’: a shopping list of corporate video options, proposed events and ‘sting videos’, each designed to develop the marketplace and to stimulate excitement for the global virtual competition, was also devised.


Great results

Despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, our client not only succeeded in achieving its brand recognition and recruitment ambitions; they also managed to double their income and company size. Additionally, they have released new products within their platform, and continue to recruit the high-quality candidates they needs to fulfil client requirements. Additionally, the company has secured new funding, onboarded further key clients and major airlines and is now supporting US Government functions.​
