The client
Our client, a government innovation unit, knew they needed to become more visible across different departments in order to build on their great reputation and continue to secure commissions. Established in 2017, our client was renowned for imaginative solutions and fast-paced delivery. However, the confidential nature of many of its projects meant that communicating their successes was not easy. And of course, with a commitment to delivering solutions quickly and with impact, their ability to develop a marcomms function for themselves was compromised.
We suggested that our client could consider a ‘Newsroom’ capability to bring to life the important work they did, and the skills and capability of their team - whilst maintaining confidentiality where required.
Our approach
Smart/tasking deployed a strategic communications lead, backed by an experienced team with the right level of experience to get a ‘newsroom’ style function up and running. A key area of focus was to identify major areas of client delivery work (and the corresponding stakeholders), then develop content-rich communications campaigns to tell a compelling story, both internally and externally. News stories, case studies, articles, infographics and other high-impact collateral were all on the agenda, and it wasn’t long before our team had a rolling schedule of quality communications underway. To ensure regular, rapid delivery of consistently high-standard communications, the team also developed a full suite of templated materials which could be used by the client’s own staff as required.
At the same time, our team phased in a re-branding exercise that did a much better job of positioning our client’s values and professional capabilities, cemented with a strong visual identity that has successfully captured the attention of stakeholders, ensuring their ongoing loyalty.
Great results
smart/comms service has been consistently used to bring our client’s projects and customer engagements to life, and to further cement stakeholder and customer relations. Initially engaged for a 3-month trial, the Newsroom communications team has now been delivering a highly-regarded service to this client for well over 2 years, and our blueprint is being used elsewhere as a tried and tested model that delivers fast, high-quality results.
